Can I climb up in your lap?

On sunday night after returning home from the evening service at Cariboo Hill Temple, I was on my bed and I was listening to the Mercy Me "Undone" CD, that my sister had lent me.
Then the song, "keep singing" was playing.

KEEP SINGING

Another rainy day
I can't recall having sunshine on my face
All I feel is pain
All I wanna do is walk out of this place
But when I am stuck and I can't move
When I don't know what I should do
When I wonder if I'll ever make it through

I gotta keep singing
I gotta keep praising your name
Your the one that's keeping my heart beating
I gotta keep singing
I gotta keep praising your name
That's' the only way that I'll find healing

Can I climb up in your lap
I don't wanna leave
Jesus sing over me
I gotta keep singing

Oh you're everything I need
And I gotta keep singing

I've heard this song many times, but this time the song was so different.
Like I was struggling so much with stuff in my life and I just really wanted to have someone there with me. But, as I heard the words, "can I climb up in your lap?" I was just like..... God that's what I want, to climb up in his lap and just be comforted by him.
But then rose the question how do we have that kind of a relationship with God if he is not in the flesh?
Well, on tuesday, my friend was telling me a story about how she went to her friend and was telling them that so many people was realying on her, but then her friend in response was like, there going to God through you.
So then a thought came to mind that we can have a realtionship with God through other people.....
Well, I'm not sure if this is true, so leave a comment with your thoughts!

I agree with Jen. We should be seeking out a pure, intimate relationship with God, not with humans. While people can aid us along in the journey, I agree, that for it to be geniune, your relationship has to be focused around you and God alone.

"To Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy-to the only God our Saviour be glory, majesty, power, authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and foevermore! Amen." Jude 24-25

Whew its a mouthful, but its clear. There is only ONE that we can trust to keep us from falling and present us without fault. There is only ONE who can give us great joy! Relying on people to do that will be a huge let down. Letting others rely on us or think of us as able to do that will only hurt and let them down. Yet even though Jesus is the most intimate and special relationship we have, He tells us to not stop hanging with each other...

"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another- and all the more as you see the DAY approaching." Hebrews 10:25

So alone or with friends we can get pumped in our worship for Him!

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!"
Philippians 4:4

I read your blog, and I don't think that you meant that you want to build your spirituality through other people, it's obvious that you are making deep commitments to follow God in your life. I think what you meant (and hey, correct me if I'm wrong here) is that through the love and support and kindness of others, you can be in the presence of God, and that is absolutely so.
"No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is truly in our hearts." 1 John 4:12
I think that you would get a lot out of this whole listening prayer thing that is going around...I assume that you know Mia Abedrabboh or Denise Knee...ask them about it, cuz there IS a way that you can be right tight with the Lord and climb right into His lap...blessings on you sister,
